How to Use:


Simply read one chapter of the Bible every day for the week-long period given. Use the questions to reflect on what you've read during the week.

The purpose of this devotional is assist you in your reading by giving you ideas to reflect upon, however, be sure to take notes for yourself and ask questions that are not given here in this devotional.

Every four weeks the devotional will be updated. Please enjoy!

December 2 - 8

2 Samuel 14 - 20

Focus: Foolishness

Questions:

1. David longed to have Absalom return to his palace, even after Absalom killed his brother Amnon. Was David wise or foolish in this desire? What was the end result?

2. Who was Ahithophel? What evil deeds did he commit and what do you think was his motivation?

December 23 - 29

1 Kings 11 - 17

Focus: Downfall

Questions:

1. What initiated God’s judgment upon David’s descendants?

2. Read the story of the prophet from Bethel. What lesson can be learned from his death?

1 Kings 4 - 10

Focus: Pride

Questions: 

1. Reading the description of the temple of God and Solomon’s house, what seems odd about the size comparison?

2. Compare Deuteronomy 17;14-20 and 1 Kings 10. What do you observe from comparing these passages?

December 9 - 15

2 Samuel 21 - 24; 1 Kings 1 - 3

Focus: Avoidable Consequences

Questions:

1. Why was there a famine for three years during David’s reign as king?

2. A plague breaks out against Israel, killing about 70,000 people. Why did this happen?
