The purpose of this devotional is assist you in your reading by giving you ideas to reflect upon, however, be sure to take notes for yourself and ask questions that are not given here in this devotional.

Job 13 - 19
Focus: Difficult Testing
Questions:
1. Job’s friends have spoken to him regarding his circumstances. How does Job view their counsel?
2. Job describes God’s actions towards him. What metaphor best describes God as Job sees Him?

June 16 - 22
Job 34 - 40
Focus: Stumbling While Persecuted
Questions:
1. How do Elihu’s words differ from the other friends of Job? (Notice that Job does not respond to refute Elihu and God appears to Job after Elihu has spoken).
2. In God’s answer to Job, how do His words compare to those of Elihu? What wrong was found in Job during his trials?

Focus: The Unjust
Questions:
1. What does Job say that God has prepared for the wicked man? In the last hundred years of history, how has this been true?
2. How do you differentiate between those that suffer because of their own sin and those that suffer for the sake of righteousness? What makes it difficult to discern between the two types of suffering?

Focus: False Wisdom
Questions:
1. What motivates Zophar to respond to Job? Why was this wrong?
2. Bildad speaks again to Job, in a brief exhortation. What do you think was the purpose of his statements?
