How to Use:


Simply read one chapter of the Bible every day for the week-long period given. Use the questions to reflect on what you've read during the week.

The purpose of this devotional is assist you in your reading by giving you ideas to reflect upon, however, be sure to take notes for yourself and ask questions that are not given here in this devotional.

Every four weeks the devotional will be updated. Please enjoy!

September 23 - 29

Judges 14 - 20

Focus: Flawed Leaders

Questions:

1. What great character flaw can be seen in Samson in chapter 14? How did this flaw come to affect the rest of Samson’s life?

2. Some of the Levites had now become wandering priests, committing various sins. Why do you think they began to behave this way?

October 14 - 20

1 Samuel 10 - 16

Focus: Broken Destiny

Questions:

1. What did Saul do that caused his kingship to end? What was the consequence for him personally?

2. Jesse, the son of Naomi, lacked vision from God. What did he and Samuel wrongly assume in their search for the next king?

October 7 - 13

1 Samuel 3 - 9

Focus: Believing a Lie

Questions: 

1. Israel lost the ark of the covenant in battle with the Philistines. Why did God allow this?

2. Israel asked Samuel to give them a king. What motivated this request and why were they sinning in their request?

September 30 - October 6

Judges 21; Ruth 1 - 4; 1 Samuel 1 - 2

Focus: Order from Disorder

Questions:

1. Naomi had two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Opar, who were both Moabites. Why was this significant? What possible effect did this have on their husbands?

2.  Why is Ruth important to the history of Israel?
