How to Use:


Simply read one chapter of the Bible every day for the week-long period given. Use the questions to reflect on what you've read during the week.

The purpose of this devotional is assist you in your reading by giving you ideas to reflect upon, however, be sure to take notes for yourself and ask questions that are not given here in this devotional.

Every four weeks the devotional will be updated. Please enjoy!

November 4 - 10

1 Samuel 17 - 23

Focus: Sin's Curse

Questions:

1. Saul was a great warrior for God when he first became the king of Israel. Why do you think he was unable to confront Goliath?

2. As a precaution, David began to hide himself from Saul. Why was this? What motivated Saul’s behavior?

November 25 - December 1

1 Samuel 10 - 16

Focus: Shepherding

Questions:

1. King David now had full reign over all of Israel. God blessed David. Write down some of the specific blessings God gave to David and his descendants. What do these mean?

2. The prophet Nathan used a parable when speaking to David. Why do you think this specific imagery was used? What does this image remind you about David’s own life?

November 18 - 24

1 Samuel 31; 2 Samuel 1 - 6

Focus: Division

Questions: 

1. King Saul and his son, Jonathan, died in battle, yet David still was not make king over all Israel. Who interfered with his kingship?

2. Saul’s household was filled with betrayal, murder, and bloodshed. How did David react to those who came to him, seeking his favor through these same deeds?

November 11 - 17

1 Samuel 24 - 30

Focus: God's Authority

Questions:

1. David confronted a man at Mount Carmel. Why did David try to confront him? David was wrong to try to resolve his conflict the way he did, how did God stop him from sinning?

2. David has two opportunities to try to take the kingdom by force. What hindered David from doing so?
